Wild Wednesdays at the Gardens

20 May 2026|2 Minutes|In Updates

This summer, Wednesdays become an invitation to wonder.

Throughout the summer holidays, families are warmly invited to join us each week for Wild Wednesdays; a series of hands-on experiences designed to help children and adults explore the gardens through curiosity, creativity, and connection with the natural world.

Over the summer we are hosting several Animal Handling sessions encouraging children to learn not simply by observing nature, but by actively engaging with it. These experiences nurture confidence, imagination, and a deeper understanding of the living environments around us.

At the Gardens, we believe some of the richest learning happens outdoors: when children take a closer look at the natural world. Through play, exploration, and shared family experiences, children develop important skills in observation, problem-solving, communication, and care for the environment.

Whether you are visiting for the first time or returning as regular explorers, Wild Wednesdays offers a chance to slow down, notice the small details of summer, and discover the gardens in entirely new ways.

For each Wild Wednesday event, participating children need both a general admission ticket and a workshop ticket. Accompanying adults require only general admission tickets.

With a year-long membership you and your family can enjoy free general admission for all your adventures all year round? Plus, you support Birmingham Botanical Gardens as a charity, helping protect this historic green oasis for future generations. Memberships start from £38 – family memberships from £80 (includes 2 Adults and up to 3 Children).
