The Palm House
The Palm House (sometimes known as the Subtropical House) is the largest of our glasshouses, and after the capital project it will be even taller.
Scale
There is enough height to accommodate large trees, including palms, tree ferns and a giant bird-of-paradise plant. Dicksonia x lathamii tree fern is unique to the gardens and the only one in the world!
You’ll also find our collection of carnivorous plants and a cabinet showing the propagation process.
Temperature and Humidity
Keeping lower temperatures and humidity than the Lily House, this home closely mimics climates of subtropical regions with a minimum nightly temperature of 13°C.
