We are thrilled to have Spark Young Writers come to the Gardens, this year with creative writing group perfect for young poets, playwrights and anyone intersted in writing. Led by writer Liam Brown with an assistant writer, the group will meet in The Learning Centre of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on one Saturday each month. Each of these sessions will run at around two hours and are a fun and relaxed place to explore writing techniques and creative outlets.

Please note, young people are encouraged to join the one group for the year, as getting to know their fellow group members is an important part of developing as a writer. Each session is £10 and you can either pay monthly or in one lump sum. Spark Young Writers are also able to offer a bursary to those who receive free school meals or pupil premium funding at school.

Friendly, informal, and most of all fun, on these sessions the young creatives will do all kinds of writing, from fiction to poetry to playwriting. The focus is on creative writing rather than spelling or punctuation, and the sessions will offer a chance for your child to develop their creative writing as well as grow their confidence in their writing. These sessions are not assessed, feedback and suggestions will be offered, but no “grades” or “attainment levels” are given.
