Learn Exciting Skills With Adult Workshops In The Gardens

Get ready to learn, develop your skills and try new activities with a wide range of unique and fun workshops, all surrounded by the beauty of nature.

We shall be hosting a wide range of creative workshops this autumn and winter period. Learn a wide range of skills: how to handle a camera, how to make inks out of natural materials, how to enhance your creative writing through mindfulness and connection to nature, and make a beautiful autumnal wreath. All of these workshops are made with adults in mind and are taught by a skilled and passionate expert. All you need to bring is enthusiasm or interest in the topic.

Photography Lessons with Adrian Burrows

Learn the basics of photography and develop your skills with two photography courses in the beautiful setting of the Botanical Gardens.

The Photography for Beginners course help you to understand the fundamentals of photography, and how to take better photos, be that on your phone, or with a DSLR or film camera. First and foremost, a creative. Fundamental to his approach is strong lighting and composition – these two vital elements combine to deliver images with impact. This course will take place on 6 September 2025.

The Photography Further Steps course will take your photography skills to the next level! Whether you are looking to enhance your knowledge of camera settings, master the art of lighting and composition, or explore the endless possibilities of creative photography, this course has got you covered. This course will take place on 18 October 2025.

Wreath Making with Flowers by Kayleigh

Learn how to make a beautiful autumn decoration in this wreath making workshop. Craft your own bespoke creation using the finest seasonal blooms, all materials provided, all skill levels welcomed.

Just bring your creativity and enthusiasm and relax into the crisp autumnal atmosphere whilst enjoying a hot drink and a delicious pastry from Medicine Bakery.

Mindful Creative Writing with Bramwell Griffiths

Learn the art of Mindful Writing in this unique creative writing workshop. Perfect new starters or long-time writers, this workshop offers something for everyone no matter where you are on your writing journey.

Using writing exercises and walks through the beautiful gardens grounds, you’ll learn how to capture ephemeral moments in verse and how to be more present in your observations.  Revel in the inspiring spaces of the Botanical Gardens, with an opportunity to display your own landscape poetry on site.

Creating Natural Inks with Carolyn Morton

Get hands on and learn how to make inks from kitchen waste, wild plants and other natural materials.

Bring home a bottle of ink, colour swatch, experimental drawings and an instruction manual so you can keep on experimenting after the workshop. But be warned, natural inks can be addictive as you explore the world through natures colours.
